Tribal Seeds dropped Ancient Blood, their fifth studio album, on February 9, 2024. They have also released two EP’s and a live album throughout their career. A lot has changed since the release of their debut album Youth Rebellion in 2005, but Ancient Blood is truly a breath of fresh air. Kicking off with Bondage featuring The Twinkle Brothers, you can feel the energy building up through the thick bass lines. It also sets a theme for some of the features on the album, as there is a heavy presence of Jamaican artists showcased. The second track, One Time, features Romain Virgo. Hector Roots Lewis (Dusk Till Dawn) and Hempress Sativa (Wicked & Riled) are also Jamaican artists that are featured on this album.
The Movement and The Elovaters (some of the most popular reggae acts in the US) also have features on Ancient Blood. The Movement are featured on the track Breathe Easy, while The Elovaters are on Mellow Mood. The title track Ancient Blood features Eddie “Chiquis” Lozoya, Chucho Ponce Los Daddys de Chinantla, and El Dusty. Personal favorites of mine off the album include Dusk Till Dawn, Irie Up, and Wicked & Riled. I must say though, this is absolutely one of those albums you can listen to from front to back without a skip. I know it is still early, but this album absolutely deserves to be in the Grammy conversation.
ANCIENT BLOOD TOUR
Tribal Seeds will be performing at the Florida Groves Festival in Orlando, Florida. The festival is set to take place April 13-14, 2024. After that, they will begin their tour in support of Ancient Blood along with Kabaka Pyramid and Inna Vision. First up is the House of Blues Myrtle Beach on May 3, 2024. The final date is scheduled for May 24, 2024 at the Ace of Spades in Sacramento, California. Key stops along the way include Florida, Texas, and Arizona. In all, the tour is set to total 13 dates in 10 states. After their show at the Ace of Spades, they will be appearing at the California Roots Festival in Seaside, California on May 25, 2024. They have one more date left after that, at the Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival. That will be taking place August 3-4, 2024 in Olympic Valley, California.
