Dropkick Murphys began their three night run of shows at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway last night for their St. Paddy’s Day Boston run. Nikki Lane and Turnpike Troubadours were on the bill for the evening as well, the latter which will be joining Dropkick for the next two nights. Jesse Ahern and The Rumjacks will also be making appearances throughout the weekend.

Dropkick Murphys delivered a twenty-one song set, beginning with The Boys Are Back. Ken made sure the crowd was awake early, jumping on the rail and interacting with plenty of fans. The Warrior’s Code, The State of Massachusetts, and Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya were all featured in the first half of the set. The second half consisted of a mix of covers and more fan favorites. We saw covers of The Fields of Athenry, The Bonny, and The Body of an American. Worker’s Song and Smash Shit Up were just a few of the fan favorites played. To cap the night off, we got a three song encore. They began with Rose Tattoo, and ended with Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (AC/DC) and Kiss Me, I’m Shitfaced.
