G. Love and Special Sauce stopped by the City Winery Boston on January 24, 2024. This was the first of back to back nights at the venue. These shows were part of the 30th Anniversary Tour, which consists of 42 total shows. Jakobs Castle is also along for the ride, opening things up each night. Jakobs Castle is fronted by Jakob Nowell, son of the late Bradley Nowell of Sublime. They played a nice little mix of originals and Sublime covers. Originals included Catch Me and Time Traveler, while April 29, 1992 (Miami) and Garden Grove were amongst the Sublime songs featured.
Once G. Love and Special Sauce hit the stage, they kicked things off with The Things That I Used to Do. They then mixed in favorites like Shooting Hoops and Cold Beverage. They also performed a rendition of Rodeo Clowns (Jack Johnson). After the first 11 songs, there was a brief intermission. G. Love picked things back up with I Love You. After that, Jakob Nowell came out to join in on Greatest Hits (Sublime). The 17 song set officially came to an end with Baby’s Got Sauce. G. Love and Special Sauce continued their 30th Anniversary Tour with two sold out shows in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after they wrapped up in Boston. The tour is scheduled to come to an end with a four day run in Colorado, beginning on March 13, 2024 at the Belly Up Aspen. The final date will be on March 16, 2024 at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado. After the 30th Anniversary Tour finishes up, G. Love and Special Sauce have a few more dates announced so far for 2024. They will be at Beachlife Festival in Redondo Beach, California on May 3, 2024. On May 26, 2024 they will be performing at JJ Grey’s Blackwater Sol Revue. This show will be taking place at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre in St. Augistine, Florida.
