The award-winning tribute band Petty Larceny brought the music of Tom Petty to St. Patrick’s Day weekend Saturday, March 16th, at Off the Rails in Worcester. The band celebrated “St. Petty’s Day,” which included special guest Dan Villani on electric fiddle and Worcester Mayor Joe Petty introducing the band. All photographs from the night were provided by Joanna Gleason.

They began the evening with Love is a Long Road. Villani added Irish flair to songs such as “Learning to Fly,” “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” and “American Girl.” The band also added the Dropkick Murphy’s classic “Shipping Up to Boston” to their setlist in honor of the event. Other notable fan favorite Petty songs showcased included Don’t Do Me Like That, Mary Jane’s Last Dance, and I Won’t Back Down. A large and energetic crowd sang along and danced, with one lucky member joining the band on cowbell during their encore. The song of choice to cap the night off was Jammin’ Me. With a full house, glo bracelets, and a raffle for a special green “song title throw” that has become a hallmark of the band, it was an evening to remember, and a great way to capture the St. Patrick’s Day spirit in a special Petty-flavored manner.
